Advancing Gender Equality and Child Safeguarding
NESSIE Sdn Bhd (NESSIE) was set up as a consultancy firm in 1993 working on issues pertaining to gender and child safeguarding for local and international organisations/agencies. Our approach is grounded in extensive and practical work experience within a human rights framework.
How we work
The work done by NESSIE is undertaken by NESSIE’s principal Director, Prema Devaraj. Where necessary, she works with a team of consultants who have specialist skills and knowledge on gender mainstreaming, gender equality, women and good governance, women’s empowerment, child safeguarding, social policy with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion and equity, community organising and social structures, and monitoring & evaluation.
Who we work with
NESSIE has collaborated with a range of stakeholders including UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), World Vision, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD), Penang Women’s Development Corporation, Wanita Berdaya Selangor, Women’s Centre for Change Penang, Malaysian Association of Social Welfare (MASW), Fugee.Org, Penang Refugee Network, on a range of topics. The team works in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
